Message : I was there for the opening show on Oct. 15th, 1977. I just turned 15. Lynyrd Skynyrd was my # 1 band.. I bought the Street Survivors album before the crash. So I do have the flames, with the plastic still covering it. I also got the one without the flames... I was so shocked, when they crashed... but they still rock... R.I.P.

Message : Just saw your web page(s). What an excellent site, reference resource and comprehensive history info, dude. I happened upon this link Googling Ronnie’s name something else to get the exact syntax of a lyric and got caught up in a good hour or so or reading an reminiscing. I was around when the boys met their fate, but don’t remember it happening. (I was 8) But I know I knew some of their songs even back then and became a huge fan in my teenage years. Haven’t kept up much with the latest efforts, but Lynard Skynard is one of those bands that goes in annals of every persons mental archive of legends and greats. Right there with the Beatles, Doors, Pink Floyd and others, no matter what the genre. Well done, my friend. The band owes you a nod (at the very least) for this effort…and I’m sure Ronnie has given you one already—from wherever that rowdy, whiskey drinkin’ redneck is looking down from now. God rest him and all the other that went and have gone since.
I’ve bookmarked your page and sent the link on to friends and others. Outstanding.

Message : I have been a fan since i was 8 years old--31 years now - I still get goosebumps when I listen to 'ALL I CAN DO IS WRITE ABOUT IT' - one of the earliest environmental songs i can recall--caught them live at the Town and Country club in London in 1991.Their talent and genius will endure as evident in the cover by kid rock (sacrilige in my opinon but each to their own). A true band in the purest sense , just wish i was born earlier and caught Ronnie live RIP BROTHER .

Message : I'm very sorry to learn that we have lost Billy Powell. This is yet another loss of a beloved musician. I have so many happy memories from all the Skynyrd concerts I saw through the years - especially the early years. I cried the day I learned of the crash because I knew that music as I had grown to love would never be the same. My love, prayers and blessings for peace are with all those dear friends lost. Forever.

Message : I remember the tragic news of the crash like it was yesterday. The news was paralyzing. I already had my ticket for the Little Rock show (Oct. 22, 1977). I did not return my ticket. I STILL have it to this day. Such a tragic loss in so many ways.. I can't imagine the sorrow of the family members on that day and through all of these years. Now, more losses.... They will always be remembered and the music of Lynyrd Skynyrd will always be played!

Message : Lynyrd Skynyrd was & is the greatest southern rock band ever. Never will you be forgotten. I've visited the memorial sites of Ronnie, Steve & Cassie & sat on the bench Charlie Daniels donated. It's a beautiful place. I dedicated the song Simple Man to my only son, which I have sang to him since he was a small boy. Now he's 24 & sings it to me & says "that's our song Mom".And he is a "simple man". I can only imagine where they would be now if they were still alive & playing for us. You've touched the lives & hearts of many & don't even know the extent of what you've done for us. Southern Rock lives on...;)

Message : I am so sorry that the band lost a couple of their members, and probably close friend. I may only be 14, but I have been listening to the band since I was in a crib. My brother played the song Freebird at his best friend's funeral, and it was very depressing. I am so happy that the band has so many meaningful songs that everyone can relate too.The band is one of those bands that everyone is always going to remember, it will never die.

Message : I was saddened to hear of the passing Lynyrd Skynyrd bass player of Ean Evans. He died of cancer on May 6, 2009. Ean took over the bass after original bass player Leon Wilkeson died in 2001. I last saw (and photographed)Ean Evans at the Nashville CMA Music Festival in 2006. I have posted my pictures of Ean, along with my last picture of Lynyrd Skynyrd, on our Lynyrd Skynyrd Tribute pages at www.SouthernTribute.com.

Message : I was saddened to hear of the loss of two more band members this year. There is a photo I recently saw online of one of the band members standing next to Billy Powell wearing a cross necklace. About 20 yrs or more ago band members came to the small town of Kilmarnock Va. and performed and spoke at a small school. During a prayer with the band I gave him a cross with Jesus on it and chain. It appears he still has it. I don't remember the name but remember giving it to him. It makes me feel good to know he still has it. I put the photo's link where it says homepage in the hopes he will see it. Thank you for all the years of great music, you are the best!

Message : My brother, Larry, was killed at age 54 in a tragic automobile accident on September 1, 2005. On my way to visit his three sons and his wife, I was listening to the radio when Free Bird came one.
I cried while I was driving as the words seemed even more poignant than ever. When I arrived at his house, and I told them my experience, his boys told me that Lynyrd Skynyrd was Larry's favorite band. I wish I knew before. Love you Larry. RIP to all those who have been taken too early.
