Our names are Richie, Michael, and William (me) and we attend James Weldon Johson Middle School in Jacksonville, Florida. We are in the 8th grade and we have searched for several hours only to find that you are the only website to have pictures of Lynyrd Skynyrd's plane crash. These pictures are very important to the grade and success of our project and we wish to have your permission to use them on our exhibit. We will properly cite you in our bibliography and on our project board. We would appreciate an expeditious response so that we may use the pictures before our project is due. Thank you very much. The VanZant's are number one in my book and could never be replaced as so. What an amazing and talented group of people. I can't imagine anyone not being touched by this band or family, their music and even lives. What an inspiration they have all been. I have only had the honor of seeing them once, but it will be replayed in my mind forever as if I were standing right there. I couldn't even sit in my seat..my knee's wouldn't bend. I could only hold the seat in front of me in complete awe as I soaked up one of the most unforgettable nights of my life. Their music is magical. It always brings a smile to my face, a warmth to my heart, and I don't feel quite so alone in this crazy ole wonderful world. If only I could say one thing to them, I would hope to find the exact words to thank them for all they have enriched my life with and for sharing a part of themselves with what makes all of our lives a bit brighter, even on the darkest days. . Thank you very much all of you and God Bless you and your loved ones. **************************************************************************************************************

I had all their albums from Pronouce to Street Survivors at the time of the crash. I was deeply saddened when I heard the news that the plane crashed in the swamps. I recall thinking about the vocals of a song Skynyrd sang where I believe they say "I'm going down to the swamp lands." I had tears in my eyes when I first heard the news. I hope to see Skynyrd play again someday. I was 19 when I first seen them, and now I'm 49 years old. I wish I could meet the survivors and the new members in person. This would be a dream come true. I am the author of "Dillinger, The Hidden Truth" and hope to one day write a book on Lynyrd Skynyrd with their blessing. Skynyrd live on! Thank you. **************************************************************************************************************

Foghat and Johnny and Edgar Winter were on first, then Skynyrd. What a great show! It got close to midnight, and they were doing Free Bird, the slow piano part had just started, when, all of a sudden, the power went off on the stage. The people that ran the park it was in turned them off, said the show was going on too long. Johnny took the mic stand and put it through the bass drum, he was so angry . Me and my friends got out of there then, we all were in the Army, and did not want to get mixed up in the riot that ensued. I never got a chance to see them again, and am glad I did get to see them once before the accident.

Name : Pat Adams Homepage : http://www.tennesseeconcerts.com Date Posted : 2006-01-16 16:32:02 Message : I saw the Ronny VanZant version of Lynyrd Skynyrd three times. All were great shows, my favorite being the concert at the Tennessee State Fair in Nashville with Blue Oyster Cult as the opening act. This show rocked! I also saw them at the Municipal Auditorium in Nashville, another great show. My first time of seeing them was at Atlanta Stadium at a Southern Rock Festival with Grinders Switch, the Marshall Tucker Band, and headliners the Allman Brothers Band. This was a good concert except for the four hours we had to wait for the Allman Brothers to show up (yes, they were 4 hours late). I was just feet away (in front of the stage) from Charlie Daniels in 1979, a year or so after the tragic plane crash, at the Volunteer Jam in Nashville when to the surprise of the audience, he announced that Lynyrd Skynyrd was back, and brought them on stage to sing an instrumental version of Freebird, an emotional concert filled with Lynyrd Skynyrd tribute's including songs by Charlie Daniels & Henry Paul. I later saw the Johnny Van Zant version of Lynyrd Skynyrd many times at Starwood Amphitheater (outdoors) in Nashville. Not the same, but nevertheless a good show. My favorite was not the wild "get drunk and raise hell" concerts at Starwood, but the more intimate indoor concert at the Gaylord Entertainment Center when they opened up for ZZ Top a few years ago. A great band with a great legacy, and Nashville was lucky enough to be the choice for reunions and video tapings. So, I was lucky enough to be there. **************************************************************************************************************

Lynyrd Skynyrd is one of the greatest rock and roll bands ever. I was lucky enough to see the band many times in their prime. I was also just feet away when Skynyrd first reunited in Nashville after the crash, A very emotional moment. This web page (Plane Crash page) is the most popular Lynyrd Skynyrd Plane Crash web page on the internet (per Google & Yahoo). I have tried to put together the most in-depth web site related to the tragic 1977 plane crash, which killed three members of the band. This web site would not exist without my friend Jacquelyn (Lynley) Cooper from Mississippi. Her family owned and lived on the property, that the plane crashed on. Her family also helped in the rescue efforts. She supplied the plane crash news articles and rare exclusive photographs, retreived from the family attic. The pictures were taken by her late aunt, on the day after the crash. I will periodically publish more of the plane crash photo's . These pages are very popular among the internet, and are my most popular pages. I'm not trying to exploit the plane crash in any way, as I refuse to put any advertisements up on these pages. I will periodically send comments from this guestbook, to many former and current Lynyrd Skynyrd band members. Feel free to email me, any time. This web site is for veiwing & historical purposes only. **************************************************************************************************************

If Steve Gaines and Ronnie Van Zant would have done 3 more albums then we would be talking about Skynyrd the way we do all the other SUPERSTARS. What could have been, will forever, haunt the fans! I personally believe FREEBIRD is the best guitar song ever written so don't even try to debate me on this, your wasting your time. I purchased what Craig Reed believed was Steve Gaines original guitar slide which he bought with him when he joined the band...Craig Reed was the guitar tech for Skynyrd at the time of the crash and for many years afterward too. I own a piece of rock and roll history...COOL. I thank Lynyrd Skynyrd for touching as many lives as they have...May God richly bless all of you. **************************************************************************************************************

They changed my life and molded my daughter Laura's life before she was even born! Laura and I just got the boxed set and we can't leave it alone! Talk about Christmas Spirit! Simple Man is better than Jingle Bells anytime! Danny and I made their first show again at Starwood in Nashville and you could have heard a pin drop in that beautiful grass when Johnny started to sing. A moment or two later all you could hear was Lynyrd Skynyrd's Family having the best time of their lives! I've taken my daughter to Starwood to see them and every time we can in Atlanta! It warms my heart to see her addicted to their music even worse/better than I am. One thing that I do know about all of "us", we all know how to behave like family when our family is in town...Godspeed to all of you! Merry Christmas and Love! I was doing homework, but the image in my mind of the band's crash took over all of my priorities. Just the year before, I had seen the band at the Fox Theater in Atlanta. You just weren't cool if you didn't know the lyrics of all of their songs. "Gimme Three Steps", "Simple Man", "What's Your Name", you just had to be able to sing those songs. Remember, in those days, LPs were the in thing, unless you could afford the 8-tracks, so you couldn't really "carry" you music with you. But if you had the right sound system, you could make sure everybody within earshot could hear it. To say that the loss of Leonard Skynard affected my youth would be a monumental understatement; it still affects me today. I often wonder where "the boys-of-the-band" would be today. I'll make up my own story. **************************************************************************************************************
